six nations news from phil
If you have been reading the website you will appreciate that we are significantly over subscribed for tickets for this years competition. However with an element of juggling begging and cajoling we should be able to satisfy everyones requirements for England v Wales although it will be necessary to allocate a number of tickets in alternative price brackets to those that were applied for.
As yet this is not the case with England v Ireland as this game was even more heavily over sbscribed than the Wales match, however we have managed to get a small additional allocation and have applied for even more tickets. Fingers crossed.
Consequently we will distribute the Wales tickets in the next few days but delay sending Ireland tickets to club members for a short while in the hope that we may obtain a further allocation from The RFU for this game.

past players annual reunion.
We are holding our Past Players Annual Re-Union on April 14. We play Chester at home that day, in what is scheduled to be our last home league of this season. Because it is a 3pm kick off, proceedings will start around 1pm with a pre-match buffet being served between 1.45pm and 2pm. As per last year there, will be a nominal charge of £10, which covers admission to the game and hot buffet.
I will be sending out a few e-mail reminders between now and the day, but hopefully it's in your diary now. I do hope you will be able to attend. The event has always been a success and I'm sure this year's event will be no exception.
Please let me know over the course of the next few weeks if you wish to come along so I can get an idea of numbers for catering purposes - ajwright13@ntlworld.com or ring or text me on 07784 574398.

winter watch
With snow and frozen grounds it is important that no non-rugby events take place on our grounds. Last winter there was evidence of sliding, sledging etc which is certainly not a good way to treat our "hallowed turf".
Please be vigilant and stop anyone you see playing on our land from doing so.

ethers ties
JR writes:
I am trying to identify the club ties on the Ethers Tie collection on display in the smaller bar.
Unless I have miscounted there are 36 in total.
I have given them all a number (See attached Pdf)
If you recognise any (particularly the more difficult ones) can you let me know please.
Some of them may have been acquired when he was reffing.
I've tried to take photos but its not easy - very gloomy and reflections if the lights are on.

Beer of the Festival winner is announced
The 3rd Lymm Annual Beer Festival held on Friday night was a resounding success, with a very pleasant evening had by all who attended, enjoying the "Battle of the Roses" beers sourced from the best breweries in Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Many thanks to those who attended, and to all the sponsors who generously sponsored the beer glasses, beers and ciders, to ensure that every drink purchased contributed to club funds.
The much coveted "First beer to run out" award went to ......... YORKSHIRE, as for the 2nd year running a SALAMANDER beer, HARRIDAN 3.8%, was the first to raise the white plastic cup indicating "Sold Out".
Also, introduced for the first time this year, was a "Beer of the Festival" award, as voted for by those attending the festival, which went to .......... LANCASHIRE, as COACH HOUSE POSTLETHWAITE 4.6% polled most votes, even excluding the clear vote rigging attempt by a certain member who also spent 1/2 the evening telling anyone within earshot that it was quote "best beer I've EVER tasted", which considering that the said gent is now retired, was some claim ! Note, 12 of the 14 beers were included in the voting, reflecting the quality of the beers on offer !
So, the battle of this "War of the Roses" ended even !
PRESIDENT'S STRICTLY DISCO DANCING NIGHT
Ted Broady our club President is very concerned about the excess weight gained by members over Christmas and New Year.

(Light Buffet Included)
