A message from Dave Ewing re the U20s game

Notes and team for Sunday
It gives me great pleasure to welcome the players officials and supporters of County Durham to Lymm for the second game in this season’s Under 20 Championship.
The counties had differing fortunes on the opening day, with Cheshire losing to a typically strong Yorkshire side 13-36, mainly due to a lacklustre start to the second half, wherein we shipped 26 points in the first 15 minutes. Durham however got off to a winning start with a 45 – 35 win over Cumbria in what appears to have been a hectic and entertaining game.
No doubt Durham will be keen to build on that success and seek revenge for Cheshire’s victory at Sunderland last season. The weather is still creating havoc in preparation for these games, and practice for both sides has been limited. However I am sure that today we will see a good game of rugby from two committed sides trying their hardest.
My best wishes to the referee and his team in bringing the best out of the players, to help in providing a worthy spectacle.
My thanks also to the Lymm club for allowing us the use of their excellent facilities. Looking beyond the first team pitch you will see the most magnificent stretch of new pitches, to support their huge youth section, and I congratulate them on their foresight and investment for the future.
A complete opposite to those clubs selling assets to fund pipedreams in league rugby, and a template for all clubs to look to the future with sensible business decisions.
Have a good day - David Ewing
