Lymm rl
Another good win for Lymm RL yesterday with the 26 - 16 defeat of Wigan Riversiders. A good matched game with Lymm coming good in the second half after trailing12 - 6 at half time. Next week, maybe Friday night or Saturday to be confirmed, we have a home tie with Runcorn. Following the failure of both Widnes and Rhyl to put teams forward for what would have been our home games, what should have been the away games will now be played at Lymm. Yesterday's win and Widnes's lost to Blackpool now puts us on equal points to Widnes but with a inferior points difference - for now!!

stones on 1st team pitch
Jim Knowles has reported that a large number of stones have been collected from around the goal posts at the car park end. These have obviously been thrown on by kids. Please keep an eye out for such vanaldalism and shoot the perishers on sight!!

past players association - a word from the president
At the present time the Rugby Club provides rugby facilities for all ages, from the youngest at mini level to those who wish to extend their rugby career through the Vets team. However, once players have finished their careers, either because of injury, or just old age, the majority of them drift away from the club. I would therefore like to propose that we start a Past Players Association.
Although we have an annual past players re-union,
I feel we should have something a little more formal, which would give former players a little more sense of belonging to the club for which they once played. This initiative fits in with our Chairman's request for more people to get involved in the club, and with our 50th year approaching I think it would be an ideal time to contact our past players and get them back to the club.
I would therefore welcome any ideas on how a Past Players Association would operate, e.g. what would past players expect, what could we offer them as an incentive to join the association, what sort of events would we run etc etc.
I would welcome any views and comments you may have. All will be considered. Contact me at:

Cats news
In the historic first ever County Rugby League derby Cheshire Cats under 12s triumphed by 20 - 4 against Chester Gladiators in the Kukri Midlands League.
At a hot and sun drenched Crouchley Lane in Lymm both sides served up a feast of fast and skilful rugby league.
Played in four quarters it was the Cats who took the lead after a diagonal dash to the corner by livewire Kane Sullivan - son of former international and St Helens star Anthony.
Kane also added on the extras.Despite dominating field position the Gladiators couldn't break the well marshalled Cats' defence.
The Cats finished the opening stanza when a fine defence splitting pass from Conor Byron saw Ethan Jude power over and secure a 10 - 0 advantage for the home side at the break.
The second quarter was highlighted by the skilful play of Toby Phillips and the dazzling footwork of Taylor Boyne.
Cheshire Cats cemented their lead with a memorable individual score from Phillips which was goaled by Sullivan to give a halftime score of 16 - 0.
Chester came more amd more into the game and though the third quarter was scoreless Daniel Munt,Jay Bridle and Phillips shone for the Cats.
The final period again saw the Gladiators threatening the home line but a seering 60 metres sprint to the line from Mathew Butler guaranteed the Cats' place in history and that first local derby victory.
The match finished with Chester camped on the Cats' try line but not before the outstanding Gladiator Lewis Tucker left many defenders trailing in his wake to register Chester's opening score of a fine morning's entertainment.

your club needs help - jubilee celebrations
As most of you know 2009/10 sees the 50th anniversary of the founding of LymmRFC (see Club history on this website for more details).
This Jubilee anniversary is an excellent opportunity to increase the profile of our club, to increase membership and to increase our standing in the village.
The Executive of the Club need people to manage or help with planning a range of activities to celebrate the Jubilee and raise funds for major club projects e.g. pitch levelling, kitchen refurbishment and changing room upgrades. We would particularly like to hear from someone prepared to take on the overall management and coordination of this project, but helpers would also be welcome as the lifeblood of a community club are the volunteers who make it work.
Members from all sections of the club are encouraged to contact our Chairman, Danny McNicholl at DANBO@3PEAKS.NET to discuss your ideas and help further the Jubilee Celebrations.
