GRASS ROOTS SPORTS APPEAL - THE FUTURE (UPDATE FEB 2007)
As a local institution Lymm Rugby Club has been running, through good times and bad, for over 40 years and we are committed to being at the heart of the community for generations to come. But The Grass Roots Sports Appeal is not just about land acquisition. It is about creating a legacy for our children. The Grass Roots Sports Appeal, launched by Lymm Rugby Club in October 2005, had a target of £500k over the next five years. It is hoped the land will be used for rugby, hockey and possibly even football, making it a true sports club. The present position is that following the recent Health & Safety Executive's decision to veto our planning application for phase one, the Appeal Committee has appointed an expert to mount an appeal to overturn the HSE decision. Should this course of action fail at this time, it is the intention of the committee to apply for planning of Phase 2 i.e, the second part of the eighteen acres first and bide our time on Phase 1 until the pipe lines become redundant in a few years time.
So the message is -----we are still moving forward-- more slowly than the club had hoped but progress is being made, and fundraising is still vitally important.Cash is now available to purchase this initial phase but more funds are required to proceed with development.
You can help today by contributing just £2.50 a week (the cost a pint of Guinness!) to the Grass Roots Sports Appeal fund. Overleaf is a direct debit form that facilitates a monthly contribution from you. We are asking for £10 per month over the next 5 years - a total of £600, but you may decide this could be increased. As well as this, and a number of fund-raising events, Lymm Rugby Club would like to develop mutually fruitful, long-lasting relationships with corporate, individual, private and family sponsors.
Alternatively therefore, and as importantly, you, or your company, may wish to become a Lymm Rugby Club Grass Roots sponsor and more details are available from Simon Plumb on 01925 755590 or by email on simon.plumb@communicado.org.uk
