On Wednesday August 11, Martin Johnson's England squad will be hosting a free open training day at Twickenham Stadium.

The gates open at 1.30pm, with training starting an hour later and an autograph signing session scheduled afterwards at around 4pm.  There is also a Fan Zone with a host of activities for all the family located in the West Car Park and open from 11am. And best of all – it’s all free!  And while you’re there, why not take advantage of the special £1 entry fee to the World Rugby Museum, situated in the East Stand and open from 10am-5pm.

Entrance for pedestrians will be via Twickenham Stadium Gate A (off Rugby Road). Free parking will be available in the Main Car Park, accessed via Rugby Road.

Please note that all dates/times are subject to change and any updates will be published on RFU.com. Visitors to the World Rugby Museum aged under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Results and Fixtures gets revamp

The Results and Fixtures section of RFU.com is consistently one of the most popular areas of the website, providing clubs, players and administrators with the latest scores and standings in their league.

Following the relaunch of RFU.com last year, we will shortly be rolling out a new upgraded and improved results and fixtures service.  As a result of this work, the current provision has been temporarily removed. We apologise for any disruption caused while essential upgrade work is carried out but expect to have the new and improved sections live in early August.

In the meantime, individual club results and fixtures are available though their RugbyFirst pages. England’s autumn Investec International fixtures are available in the Twickenham Stadium section and more information on RFU competitions can also be found on RFU.com.

Next time you visit the site, look out for the all-new Results and Fixtures section. If you have any queries or require further information please e-mail webmaster@therfu.com.

Kids go free to Middlesex Sevens

Sixteen top rugby teams including those from the Premiership clubs, England, Scotland and Wales will battle it out in a full day of action packed, try-filled rugby and entertainment at the Middlesex Charity Sevens at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday, August 14.

This year kids go free and children will be entertained throughout the day with music, face-painting, an inflatable kids’ zone and much more.

Everyone can enjoy the carnival atmosphere created with cheerleading, karaoke, brass bands, the UR7s Speed Cage and an all day party in the West Car Park – and that’s in addition to the rugby on the pitch! The Middlesex Sevens is famous for the fancy dress indulged in by many rugby clubs and groups, as they attempt to star on Twickenham’s Big Screen. Go to the Fanzone on rfu.com to read about Middlesex 7s All-Day Entertainment at Twickenham Stadium.

Josh Lewsey, former England international and previous winner of the Middlesex Sevens with London Wasps said, “The Middlesex Sevens should be a date in every rugby fan’s diary. It's a great family day out with a great tradition.”

Buy your tickets online or call 0844 776 7777. Tickets start from £20 and each adult ticket purchased entitled you to two free kids’ tickets.

Get ready for the new Grand Draw

The RFU Grand Draw 2010/11 will kick off in October 2010. Last year more than 700 clubs and schools raised a staggering £475,000,  ninety per cent of which they received as a tax free donation. With grants and donations drying up, the draw is the BEST and EASIEST way for your club to raise much needed funds. The holder of the winning ticket from the grand draw 2009/10, sold by Rotherham Phoenix RFC, was presented with a giant cheque by Rugby Football Union President John Owen at Rotherham Titans’ Clifton Lane ground.

It is very important that we know who to contact at your club. Unless you tell us otherwise, the kit will automatically go to your Hon Secretary, as listed on Rugby First. Last year several clubs missed out, don’t be one of them. Make sure your contact details are accurate so we can get it right first time.

If you have not taken part in the Grand Draw before, or want a reminder of the benefits, find information on how the RFU Grand Draw raises money for your club on RFU.com. You can download the pre-registration form from RFU.com from mid August.

If you have any questions, please email grand.draw@therfu.com and we will be pleased to run through how to operate the draw to ensure your club or school gets the best out of next season’s event.

Stanley star at Rugby School

Teddington's Stanley Junior School came ‘home’ to Twickenham as the new Yazoo Tag 2 Twickenham National Champions following the finals day held at the birthplace of the sport, Rugby School, earlier this month.

There were no doubting Stanley School's credentials, having come through 10 tag matches unbeaten during the day, winning nine and drawing one.

Watched by a large crowd they were taken to extra time by Shropshire’s St Lawrence Primary School before Alfie Banks `golden’ try settled the title.

But, it’s not yet over for either of the finalists as both schools, Stanley School and St Lawrence, have also the earned the chance to play a match at Twickenham Stadium prior to one of England’s Investec Internationals in November.
